The tree grows to a height of 46m and the trunk diameter is 1–2 meters

The Timber

The heartwood is yellowish brown well defined. The texture is even and uniform, grain interlocked. It is naturally durable and resistant to termite and marine borer attack. It is a hard timber with high crushing strength. Very stable and durable and  it turns,  moulds, glues,  stains and finishes  well. Pre-boring is recommended when nailing and screwing. Afrormosia has a distinct odor while being worked.

It is used for furniture, joinery, flooring, boat building and cabinet making
